Holy summer, it is freakin’ hot outside! And in my opinion there is nothing quite like a cold fruity smoothie on a hot and humid day.……am I right or what!? It’s *almost* that time of year to fire up the grill and throw on your favorite summer foods! Honestly, in my opinion, there is nothing better than a yummy grilled meal. Since I’ve eliminated meat from my diet, I’ve had to find replacements for burgers, hot dogs, etc. that aren’t just veggies on skewers. I have to credit my boyfriend, Ollie, for this Easy Grillable Black Bean Burger recipe. It’s absolutely delicious and (according to him ;-) ) super easy to make! Although, now that I have learned how to properly use the grill I will be making these myself.
As many of you know, I am from Alabama where the fried chicken is at it’s finest and everything is cooked in butter. While it’s all delicious, it doesn’t accommodate to my dietary habits and it sure as heck isn’t the healthiest of foods. Anyways I am back in the south visiting my mom for her birthday and when I saw pancakes pop up on my Instagram feed this morning, I got a major craving, but I ran into a little dilemma when creating a recipe. When it comes to breakfast pastries muffins are definitely my go-to, especially blueberry muffins. I remember as a kid we would bake muffins and have them throughout the week for breakfast before school (or just devour them all on the weekends). The other day when I came across some reusable mini muffin cups at the hardware store, I just had to get them and do some Sunday afternoon baking. Also, these muffin cups are another perfect addition my *in transition* sustainable kitchenware!
Are you a pack your own snack kind of person or someone who likes to pick something up on the go? I personally like to pack my own snacks, especially when traveling, to ensure that it’s a healthy snack made with clean ingredients. In preparation for my trip, I decided to make some “Adaptogenic Cashew Cacao Bliss Balls,” and lemme tell ya they are the bomb diggidy! Traveling tends to stress me out so I added some WYLDE ONE Yoga In A Cup Adaptogens to the recipe to keep me zen AF as I head south. But who am I kidding? I’ll be making them again when I return to NYC for that same zen affect.

The past few weeks my body has been craving earthy spices such as turmeric, ginger, cumin, and cayenne. This craving is actually the reason I baked this delicious loaf of bread, which requires minimal ingredients and is super easy to make. Although some may considered this loaf of bread a "sweet treat," it is made with lots of healthy ingredients that fight inflammation, improve gut health, build a stronger immune system, and so forth! Oh and did I mention it's gluten-free?!
