Holy 2019, where did the time go? One thing I know for sure is that 2018 fell nothing short of a year full of self-care. I mean just check out the hashtag on Instagram and there are over 10 million post of people sharing their workout routines, delicious looking smoothies and bowls, and cabinets full of clean beauty products. But none of this is going anywhere in 2019 and t’s only going to get better.

When it comes to New Years celebrations, I feel like I’ve covered all my basis on nightlife activities so this year I was really looking forward to spending the night hunkering down at home. I personally made an extra effort to ring in the new year with all the self-care including a walk in the park followed by a soak in the tub with a good book, face mask galore, and going to bed before the clock struck 7:30 PM. HELLO YEAR OF SELF-CARE & SELF-LOVE!

One thing I always look forward to around this time of year are the wellness trends, which usually consist of both ancient and modern practices. I have been already been implementing a few of these wellness trends into my routine so they will be sticking around for the long run and as for the others I look forward to giving them a try!

Celery juice will be the new pretty health drink to gain popularity.
Celery juice started making an appearance last year, but its quickly gaining popularity and rightfully so as those green stocks are more of a superfood than they let on. Celery is known for improving heart and gut health, supporting the nervous system, and is popular for having powerful anti-inflammatory properties. The whole process of making celery juice is really quite simple even if you don’t have a juicer. All you do is toss some celery stocks (I usually do 3-4) and 2 cups of water into the blender, blend on high for about a minute, then strain the juice using a cheese cloth to remove the pulp. And wah-lah, you have yourself a healthy and refreshing cup of celery juice. Interested in a blog post and maybe a Youtube video on celery juice? I think I might just put that into the works…

Staying in to workout is the new going out.
Thanks to technology, you can get a kick-ass work out right in your living room. Many boutique fitness studios and popular trainers are now streaming their classes online. One of the cooler at-home experiences I’ve come across is Peloton, which also just launched a yoga program. Also, The Mirror, is an interactive in-home gym that is so technologically advanced it kind of blows my mind. Never forget the trusty Youtube Channel workouts though, they can always get the job done.

Plant-based is looking a whole lot “meatier.”
As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I’ve tried my fair share of imitation meat. I must say some are much much more pleasant than others. Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods are at the top of the chart making some pretty impressive “meats.” and can typically find these brands being used at restaurants. I also really enjoy Field Roast. Throw some kraut on their sausages and you’ve got yourself a tasty treat. But things are about to get fishy with Good Catch hitting the shelves.

Acupuncture is not new to the wellness scene, but it’s buzzing right now.
Let me just start with saying, I freakin’ love acupuncture. I’ve been for various reasons to heal my body including migraines, pain management, hormone balance, and gut health. Acupuncture in the wellness industry is becoming more accessible and affordable thanks to places like WTHN, which is known as the “Drybar of acupuncture.” When I first started going to acupuncture, I paid $150 per session and that’s with insurance! Eventually I found another doc and the price got knocked down to $90. Also, when you’re having to go 2-3 times a month the cost can really add up so you better believe I signed up for the WTHN membership (you get complimentary cupping and LED light treatment)!

More clean beauty products will be on the shelf’s at mainstream drug stores.
Hallelujah! I am a big fan of this wellness trend because honestly, I hate dropping a pretty penny (or 1,000,000) on skincare products. But I am very peculiar about what I use on my skin which usually means I have to compromise and splurge. Thanks to brands like Botanics, Yes To, Pacifica, Burt’s Bees, and more being available at mainstream drugstores you can now show your skin with love without breaking the bank.

Keep an eye out for these 5 wellness trends in 2019 because I would say it’s lookin’ like a pretty swell year. If you’re ahead of the game (maybe even a trendsetter?!) and you’re already implementing some of these trends into your wellness routine, I would love to hear about it in the comment section!

Sending you so much love in 2019!

Xx,

Alexandra
