The sound of rolling cool jade stones over your skin sounds enticing, huh? Well, I am here to give you the low down on this ancient art of jade rolling. It may seem like a taboo wellness thing, but I’ve been incorporating jade rolling into my skincare routine over the past couple of months and let me tell ya it’s just as incredible as it sounds!
So what exactly is a jade roller….?
The jade stone is known as a healing semi-precious gemstone and is considered a sign of power and immortality. A jade roller is a very simple tool that consist of a roller made of jade that is attached to a handle. Jade rolling is an ancient beauty tradition that was once believed to have been practiced by wealthy Chinese women to balance your bodies chi, which is your body’s natural energy force. Now in modern time it is finding its way into more and more holistic wellness spas and for good reason. The jade roller can be used on the face, neck, and eyes and has several benefits including depuffing the skin, improving blood circulations, and relieving facial and jaw tension. It can also be used for lymphatic massage, which is the natural drainage of the lymph, a bodily fluid that carries waste products away from the tissue and back towards the heart.
Side note: my jade roller is a rose quartz, but you get the same exact benefits!
Now that you know what a jade roller is, let’s learn how to roll your way to glowing skin.
Jade rolling might just be the simplest step in your skincare routine. I’ve been incorporating jade rolling into my skincare routine both morning and night. I like to jade roll at the end of my routine after I apply my facial serum or cream. Also, a pro tip for you – keep your jade roller in the freeze for a little extra treat.
Okay, now time to learn the jade rolling technique, like I said earlier it’s so simple and is well worth those few extra moments of your time.
Begin at the center of the lower neck and roll outwards towards your ear lobes.
Next place the jade roller at the chin and roll horizontally out to the hairline. The pressure should be light and comfortable on the skin.
Gradually move up to the nose and roll from the corner of the nose out towards the ears.
Rotate the jade roller to the small end and place it in the inner corner of the eye. Roll out toward the temples.
Next, place the roller on the eyebrows, and roll downwards, ending at the temples.
Roll from the eyebrows upwards to the hairline, moving across the forehead.
Finish by rolling the middle of the forehead horizontally out towards the temples.
